To keep myself accountable, I've decided to start posting my menus again for a while. Back in September of 2006 I was down to my lowest weight of 116 pounds. I've since put on about 9 pounds while on vacation and over the holidays. It's time to crack down and get my weight under control again.

About a year ago I started exercising daily. Every day I do either an hour of Callanetics or Pilates. I find that when I exercise, I can't lose much weight. When I first started, I gained a couple pounds and then pretty much maintained my weight. However, I did find that I'd lost inches and my clothes were loser after building up my muscles. So, I probably won't get back to 116 pounds again, but hopefully I'll lose at least a little. One reason that I was able to get down to 116 a few months ago was because I had stopped exercising due to back problems. I was afraid that the exercising was causing the pain despite the fact that I'd been exercising for many months with no problem (I've had back problems off and on for quite a few years and they were likely caused by being overweight). After taking about four months off from regular exercise, my back problems hadn't gone away so I decided that I may as well be in shape in spite of the pain. I've decided not to give in to the pain for fear that I'll end up a crippled old lady in a few years.

I don't normally eat diet bars anymore but I found these marked down to just 79-cents so I bought a few to have on hand. I ate one while driving home today from a morning of shopping. I just read about Diet Rite cherry cola at Low Carb Friends this morning and I found some at Wal-Mart. It's not bad but not as good as Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi. I don't care for Diet Rite regular cola, or any of their other soda flavors, but this is pretty good.

* I found this cheese near the deli at Kroger this morning. The brand is Sonoma Jack and it comes in a variety of flavors such as Portabella Jack, Garlic Jack and Vidalia Onion Jack. I bought a package of each of those flavors. The Portabella Jack is very nice and the Vidalia Onion Jack reminds me a little of the cheddar with caramelized onion that I bought at Trader Joe's a few months ago. I haven't tried the garlic cheese yet. There is very little information on the Sonoma Jack site, but I found more on the Costco website here.

** I salvaged the cake that I made yesterday by making "cookie" crumbs out of the cake and layering them in a baking dish with diet lemon pudding and Whipped Topping. I just guessed that there might be about 5 carbs in the sample serving that I ate.
